Both salt and salt substitutes can cause stones to form – use pepper and herbs instead for flavouring, and buy the low-sodium or no-sodium versions of canned tuna, soups, or frozen dinners. Cut out all soda or pop, including the low-sugar varieties, because the carbonation can help cause kidney stones.

5. Get More Rest and Sleep

Recent research has revealed that people who suffer from too little rest and sleep are more likely to be obese, and obesity is linked with many illnesses, including kidney stone formation and kidney disease. Adults need 6 to 8 hours of sleep per night to remain healthy.

These simple diet and lifestyle changes may sound familiar, perhaps because they are quite similar to what many healthy diet experts advise you do to regain your health and lose weight.
