So, here are some very important dietary tips that you must make use of if you want to get rid of abdominal fat:

1-Stay off junk foods

Most junk foods are full of sugar and refined carbohydrates which cause a sharp rise in the sugar level of the blood after consumption. This sharp rise in the sugar level of the blood ultimately leads to the conversion of excess blood sugar into fat and it also leads to reduction in the burning of excessive fat to generate energy for the body.

Therefore, it is highly advisable that you remove junk foods like cookies, chips, sweets etc from your fridge and kitchen; if you don’t have these junk foods around you, you will not be tempted to eat them.

2-Eat carbohydrate foods that have a low glycaemic index (GI)

The glycaemic index of a carbohydrate food is a measure of how much increase the food will cause in the level of sugar/glucose in the blood after it is consumed.

Carbohydrate foods that cause a sharp and great increase in the level of sugar/glucose in the blood after consumption have a high glycaemic index and these foods are readily associated with accumulation of excessive body fat and the development of diseases like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and degenerative eye disease.

Examples of carbohydrate foods with high glycaemic index that you have to avoid include white bread, corn flakes, white rice, white potatoes, pasta, cakes, doughnuts and other pastry based foods.

So, if you are serious about losing excessive abdominal fat you should consume more of foods that have low glycaemic index like fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, chicken peas etc. Most of your meals should consist mainly of protein diets mixed with lots of vegetables or other carbohydrates with low glycaemic index.

3-Put an end to late night snacks

Most of the food that we eat at night end up getting converted into body fat as we usually do not expend enough energy to burn these foods after eating them at night; we usually go to bed immediately or after some few minutes after dinner.

Eating heavy meals at night and indulging in late night snacks will only cause lots of sugar to be released into the blood which eventually get converted into excessive body fat. Therefore, stop late night snacks and heavy dinners if you want to trim down your waist line.

4-Reduce alcohol consumption

Excessive consumption of alcohol will inevitably lead to accumulation of excessive abdominal fat; all the carbohydrate inside beer and other alcoholic drinks are converted into belly fat. So it is better to stop the consumption of alcohol completely but if you cannot stop it totally, make sure you reduce your consumption to a maximum of a pint of alcohol per day.
